Prayer flag printing with carved wooden blocks in Bhutan
Hands-on · Craft
1 – 1.5 hrs

Best for: Travellers who want to make something meaningful

Prayer Flag Printing

Before flags fly, they are printed. Using carved wooden blocks and ink, you print your own prayer flag the traditional way and learn what the mantras and colours mean. Different from simply hanging flags, this is the making of one. Afterwards you place it respectfully or take it home. A short, hands-on Bhutan cultural experience in Paro or Thimphu.

Traditional weaving on a loom in Bhutan
Craft · Heritage
1.5 – 3 hrs

Best for: Textile lovers and anyone curious about the kira

Traditional Weaving & Textile Dyeing

Weaving in Bhutan is a serious art. Patterns identify regions, and a fine kira can take months on the loom. Visit weavers at work in Thimphu, Bumthang, or a village setting, learn to read the patterns, and try a few passes yourself. Where available, we include natural dyeing so you see colour made from plants and bark. Slow craft, properly explained.

Hands shaping clay at a pottery class in Bhutan
Hands-on · Craft
1.5 – 2 hrs

Best for: Travellers who like making things with their hands

Pottery Class

Clay slows everyone down, which is exactly the point. At a local workshop in Thimphu or Paro, a potter shows you how vessels are shaped, then you work a piece of your own. It is quiet, tactile, and a good counterweight to days of driving and sightseeing. No skill required, and the results are usually better than expected.

Traditional Bhutanese painting class with motifs and colours
Arts · Heritage
1.5 – 3 hrs

Best for: Travellers drawn to Bhutanese art and colour

Traditional Painting & Art Class

Bhutanese painting follows precise rules. Motifs, proportions, and colours carry meaning, and they are passed down through generations of artists. In a guided session in Thimphu or Paro, an artist introduces the main motifs you see on houses and temples, then helps you paint your own piece. Separate from mandala making, this focuses on the painting tradition itself.

Private Bhutanese cultural performance with folk dancers and musicians
Performance · Evening
1 – 2 hrs

Best for: Groups and special evenings

Private Cultural Performance

An evening of Bhutanese folk songs, dance, and live music arranged privately for you at a hotel courtyard, farmhouse, or event space. Where the occasion allows, mask dance elements can be included. Performers explain what each piece means, so it feels like an introduction rather than a show. Depends on availability and occasion, so let us know early.

Custom
