  • March–May | September–November
  • 4180m

This is your “most exclusive wilderness” trek: remote routes, high ridgelines, sacred lake camping (4,180 m), and a full acclimatisation day. Emphasise privacy, capacity-limited logistics (crew/horses/camps), and the luxury of support—guests walk light with a daypack.

For guests who want Bhutan’s rarest landscapes—this is the one. The Nub Tshonapata trek moves through Haa’s high ridges and remote yak-herder country to a sacred turquoise lake at 4,180 m, with star-filled camp nights and sweeping Himalayan panoramas. You cross old trade routes once used between Haa and Tibet, climb to high passes above 4,300 m, and spend a full day acclimatising beside the lake—an experience that feels genuinely removed from the modern world.

Ideal for: fit, adventure-minded travellers who want a real trek; couples/friends wanting a private “luxury expedition” feel

This itinerary is built for experienced walkers who want a private, fully supported trek: you hike light with a daypack while your team handles camp, meals, and logistics—then return to Paro for comfort, heritage, and a celebratory finish.

Itinerary

Arrive in Paro and transfer privately to your hotel. This is a true recovery night—hydration, calm pacing, early dinner, and sleep. Your guide will brief you gently on altitude, trekking rhythm, and what to expect over the coming days.

Optional: spa / hot stone bath if you arrive early and want to loosen up before trekking.

Drive into Haa Valley—quiet roads, changing landscapes, and a noticeable drop in “tourist energy.”

In the afternoon, meet the trekking team for a full briefing + gear check:
- packing system (what you carry vs what goes with the crew)
- daily pacing + safety
- camp routine (meals, warm drinks, sleeping setup)
- altitude management plan

Evening: early dinner, final kit prep, and a restful night.

~14 km | 5–6 hrs

Your first trekking day is the shift from valley life into high country. The climb is steady, with time to find your rhythm and settle into the trek routine.

Arrive in Womji and ease into camp life: warm tea, a cooked meal, and a quiet sunset as the air turns crisp.

Luxury trekking touch: warm towels on arrival + pre-dinner hot drink service.

~22 km | 7–8 hrs

A bigger day—long, wild, and cinematic. You’ll move deeper into alpine terrain, with wide views and a growing sense of remoteness.

Arrival at Nub Tshonapata feels like reaching another world: open highlands and the stillness of lake country. Evening is cozy, quiet, and deeply satisfying.

This day is the secret to enjoying the trek well.

Sleep in a little, hydrate, and let your body adapt. Options are flexible:
- short lake walks and photo time
- gentle ridge viewpoints (optional, based on energy)
- journaling, reading, or simply resting in the silence

Camp experience: a slow, nourishing day with warm meals and comfort built in.

~19 km | 6–7 hrs

A day of movement and rhythm. After acclimatising, walking at altitude tends to feel more natural. Expect classic highland scenery, long open sections, and the feeling of crossing through true wilderness.

Arrive at Tshojo and enjoy a final high-camp evening.

~10 km | 3–4 hrs trek~4 hrs drive

Your final trek morning is shorter—perfect for finishing strong without rushing. Return to Haa, celebrate the completion of the trek, then transfer back to Paro for a hot shower, clean clothes, and a comfortable night.

Evening suggestion: relaxed dinner and an early night—your body will thank you.

A gentle cultural close after the trek: dzong viewpoints, quiet monasteries, and meaningful heritage stops—kept intentionally light.

Optional add-on: Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang)
If you still have energy and want the iconic finale, we can add Tiger’s Nest today (or swap it in earlier depending on your arrival/departure timing).
